Elephone announces special flash sale, phones going from $12.12

Elephone (everyone’s favourite!) have announced that they will be having flash sales on the 12th, 16th, 17th and 18th of December, with devices such as the Elephone P8000, P6000 Pro, M2, S2 and S2 Plus going on sale for as low as $12.12 (Because 12th December, geddit?).


Elephone have yet to fully announce the details of this flash sale, so we still don’t know if there what other devices will be offered, if any at all. We’d also don’t know if smartphones are going to be the only devices going on sale, since Elephone also has a large number of other gadgets like e-cigars, action cameras and smartwatches.

Elephone Custom Roms and Updates for the P8000 and Trunk

Its busy busy over on the Elephone forums, today sees news of not 1 but 2 Elephone Custom Roms and Updates for the P8000 and Trunk.

The first one is an update to the previous version of the Meizu Flyme rom, the new version is 4.5.4 with production date of 2015-12-01 the Rom is based on Android 5.1

Changelog:

System
Fixed the occasional rebooting bug;

Phone
Fixed the occasional bug of the Phone app being shut down abnormally;
Fixed the program crash when tap ‘Add to marked’ in detail page of call log;

Messages
Fixed the occasional failure in syncing Messages;
Fixed the problem in which the message reply icon is useless when receiving an incoming call;

Wi-Fi
Fixed the slow response problem occurred in the system after disable WPS;

Email
Fixed the problem of unable to login to vanke email account;

Third-party apps
Fixed the crash bug when input and long press text in Jota+ app;
Fixed the bug of the phone being unable to upload videos to Instagram.

They have not mentioned the fingerprint scanner, this was not working in the previous version and I would assume that it is still not working in this one.

The next Rom and probably the one that will get the most interest from Rom flashers is the Elephone Trunk Cyanogenmod 13 build date of 2015-11-24 based on Android 6.0

It will be interesting to see how well the Trunk runs Cyanogenmod 13 and what if any bugs there are to work out.

The fact that the Trunk runs a Qualcomm CPU and is very similar to the ARK Benefit A3 means that it is getting a fair amount of attention from devs.

Hot on the heels of the Elephone M1 and M2 all metal business phones comes this bit of Elephone M3 news.

Just like the 2 previous releases Elephone have once again chosen an all metal construction for the body of the M3, looking at the renders its a nice looking handset with 2.5d glass (hopefully the phone will look this good when it is ready to ship out).

What will set this phone apart is the addition of previously flagship only features such as the inclusion of a USB type C charging port and the fact that it will ship with Android os6 Marshmallow.

Not much more is known about the phone except that it will feature a Mediatek Helio P10 (MT6755) processor and will be available in silver and gold and the price will be just $99 (£66)

Hopefully the screen and cameras on the Elephone M3 will be of decent quality, making this an attractive proposition for a second handset.
