What software will the LG Watch Urbane LTE run?
The LG Watch Urbane LTE, which was announced yesterday as a second version to thenon-LTE variant, raised a few flags yesterday, when it was announced. The device is said to support mobile payments via NFC, as well as voice and data via 4G LTE. We know Android Wear doesn’t support standalone capabilities quiet yet, so what software will it run?
We now know it won’t be running Android Wear (or a modified version of it). In addition, the device has been confirmed not to be running WebOS, which was the first suspicion, as a WebOS smart watch was made in partnership with Audi. So if it’s not Android Wear or WebOS, what is it? Only time will tell.
Opinion: Whatever LG is doing here, I hope they do it right. It’s not easy to step out of the boundaries of wearable operating systems that have been established and standardized.
