AT&T making it harder for people to sign a 2-year contract

AT&T making it harder for people to sign a 2-year contract

It seems like it was just some days ago when all carriers did everything in their power to make you sign a contract. Fast-forward to 2015 and everyone seems to be trying to move away from that strategy! Go figure.
Anyways, it seems AT&T is making some major changes to their business strategy starting June 1st. While they won’t be getting rid of contracts (as previously rumored), internal sources say AT&T will make it a bit harder for users to get on a contract.
The idea would be to promote their AT&T NEXT program, but those who want to sign a 2-year contract instead will have to have their devices ordered. That’s right, you won’t be able to walk into a store and walk out with a phone on a contract.
Opinion: Very weird, right? I mean, the phones are there, just give me the damn thing! What’s the point of all this beating around the bush. Either keep your contracts or dump them. Don’t just keep us in this smartphone purgatory.
